Sally

Finally I can show you my quilt which I finished a while ago. It is published in the Spring special of Quiltmania.

I quilted the pink alternate blocks with a freehand feather. Which Gwen Marston showed me how to make these at her retreat I went to a few years ago. As soon as I have my quilt back I will take a close up picture of the quilting for you to see.

The backing

The front.

I'm very happy with the way how Quiltmania photographed my quilt for their magazine.

Congratulations. It looks like a smashing quilt. I'll have to wait to get a copy of the mag to have a closer look. How long between giving the photographer the quilt and publication?

That's a great quilt, Lucy and such a compliment!!
Lieve groet, Ria.

I love that quilt! The pattern, the colors, the fabric , the quilting and the backing. Freehand feathers? Didn't know these existed, would love to know how to do that!
So I was right, it is your quilt, even though Quiltmania printed a different name next to the quilt..... Congratulations with the publication!

It's a lovely quilt! I love the pink alternating blocks and the brown border. How large are the blocks and how large is the whole quilt? (I haven't seen Quiltmania magazine available in our local stores.)

Congratulations Lucy, it is a beautiful, pretty quilt. I think Hannah would love me to make that pattern for her. I really love the backing fabrics you used. Ann x

Congratulations, Lucy! The quilt is beautiful and well worth waiting for. And she's a cover girl too! I love the pink, the brown, the scrappiness, and the simplicity of it. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the magazine.

Groetjes,
Marianne en Mieke

It is a great quilt - looks just like an antique. I am intrigued with the freehand feathers. I am so sorry Gwen isn't doing her retreats anymore. I'd love to learn that technique.

Beautiful and wonderful Lucy! It is so much fun to know published quilters like you and Kathie. I can point to the quilt in the magazine and say "this was made by my friend Lucy in The Netherlands, who I met her one year just before July 4th and who reads by blog. I will tell everyone how creative you are and how proud I am to have met you. I can hardly wait for this issue to appear here in the states. That always seems to take several weeks.

Beautiful. And hand quilted!
I would never have thought to use pink as a neutral, but dang, it works! I have a couple large chunks of pink... maybe I should try it?
